Well we are back from the NEC Homebuilding & Renovating show a little bit weary but certainly inspired by the enthusiasm shown by all the visitors.

| I was really pleased to receive our award for winning the product innovation category for our 3i panel system that will enable us to meet the new regulations coming and still build beautiful traditional infill panel houses. This award is a compliment to all those members of our team who have worked so hard in developing the 3i panel. |

Now down to the actual show. We found that our stand while in its third year is still working really well as a graphic hanger to display pictures and information on our oak framed houses. The flow as ever worked well with people being able to see many styles of oak frame and gain some in-a-nutshell information on each project.

We have not carried out the full calculations but we think this may have been the busiest show for a few years. This demonstrates that while times may be a little tougher the self build community are still as enthusiastic and determined as ever to take their dreams and turn them into reality. Our team are going to have to now work really hard to follow up all the good enquiries that we received.

It was good as ever to see that our design area was really popular. Thanks to Pete Tonks, John Williams and Jeremy and Ann Rawlings, three of our associated architect designers who worked tirelessly over the four days to answer all sorts of design queries and look at many potentially interesting design projects. As ever we must always remember that the best looking houses stem from valuable time being spent on good design.

The Home Building & Renovating show at the NEC has always been the best show of the season for us at Oakwrights and the 2010 show has not disappointed us. While I now feel just a little tired from four days hard work my spirits have been lifted by seeing the sheer enthusiasm of the self build market. I am now looking forward to the summer show season and our regular open days of which Jakki will keep you all informed.
