Back in those balmy days of April and May it seemed like a great idea to be entering the Mountain Mayhem 24 hour mountain bike race. Now with torrential rain I am not looking forward to hauling my old body around Eastnor Castle’s beautiful grounds that have turned into a representation of The Somme.

Last night we sent a scouting party out to give the whole event the Oakwrights flavour. We did this by taking our lorry and a Cruck Marquee. The Cruck Marquee is a lightweight Cruck oak frame with a traditional canvas over top which can create a wonderful entertainment space in a garden. In this instance we are using the Cruck Marquee to shelter our tired bodies from the rain in between laps.

The team is ten strong including Mrs Crump, that is Serena my wife, and the rest of the team are from Oakwrights. Some are more fit than others and I am one of the not so fit members of the team. I will let you know how we get on.
