Oak Frame at the End of Your Rainbow

On Saturday 25th of September Jennifer Nash kindly allowed us to hold an open day at her fantastic barn style house.

Jennifer bought the plot in her village in Hampshire as an old bungalow with a semi scrap yard on site. Looking back at the pictures of the house as it is now you would never believe what once occupied the plot.

The Oakwrights team David, Anthony, Mark and Darren worked along side Jennifer to make the open day a great success for all of our visitors. We had thirty six different groups, our first visitors arriving at 9.30 am and the last party leaving at about 4pm. Mostly the visitors were prospective clients who were looking for ideas for the style of house that they would like to build, but there were also three couples already working with Oakwrights who had great fun discussing their projects with each other and Jennifer.

Darren Blackwell one of our architectural designers (and who designed Jennifer’s house) met with six of his current clients who were all at different stages of the design and planning process.

These open days work really well for our Clients, they enable them to visualise how their own oak frame will work for them, and along with visiting our show home, help them gather lots of useful ideas along the way. Compliments must go to Jennifer for her wonderful cake that was appreciated by every one and for supplying tea and coffee all day.

One of the interesting things about Jennifer’s story is that not only has she created a wonderful home for herself but that she has now got the self build bug and is currently carrying out the project management for Mr and Mrs Cranstone who have chosen to use Oakwrights for the design and construction of their oak framed home. I am sure that by following the well organised way in which Jennifer completed her home that this new project will also be a great success.

So thank you to Jennifer for her hospitality and for helping to give so many potential self builders inspiration to pursue their dream.

Our next open house will be at Sue and Ian Pinks Hybrid home in Kent. We held a very successful open day here last year and sue and Ian have kindly allowed us to visit them once again this year. We look forwards to seeing you on Saturday 23rd of October.
