Last Saturday we had our first weekend open day at our show home. It is funny how we have always travelled all over the country to hold our open days on a Saturday but the show home that we have on our doorstep we have never before opened at the weekend.

We thought it would be a success but we were surprised by just how many people booked up to visit. On the day, thirty-two parties visited from 9am in the morning to 4pm in the afternoon. I find the open days quite invigorating when you see how enthusiastic people are about self build and our oak frames.

Tony carried out a sterling job on the car parking when at one stage he had sixteen cars to deal with in our little car parking space. Marilyn looked after everybody with drinks and sandwiches which went down well.

John Williams gave two informative talks during the day on designing an oak framed house and how to gain the best looking oak frame possible, and also on planning and dealing with local planning authorities to gain your consent. Both of these talks were very well received.

We met some new customers and met with customers who we have been dealing with for a while. Hopefully the open day will encourage some of the new customers to revisit us and stay in the show home with “Try Before you Buy”

All in all an enjoyable and informative day. We will have to get on and organise another open day, the question is which part of the country next.
