Oakwrights to star at Countryfile Live 2016
Oakwrights are getting set to star in BBC Countryfile’s first live show, taking place from 4-7 August 2016 at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire.
The Countryfile Live Big Barn
We will be creating the ‘Big Barn’ at Countryfile Live 2016. The 300-capacity venue will host Q&A sessions with the Countryfile presenters as well as other popular celebrities. Made from sustainable oak, the big barn will supply 236Sq Metres of covered space for audiences across all four-days of show.
Bill Keir, Commercial & Operations Director at Oakwrights said: “It’s fantastic to be playing a part in Countryfile’s first ever live show and creating a bespoke venue for visitors as well as many famous faces.
“We have worked closely with the show’s organisers to design the oak structure and over the next three weeks, we will be developing the frame at our Sugwas workshops. Our advanced machinery and technology will be used to quickly and precisely cut the oak beams, which will then be finished by hand by our skilled craftsmen. This combination of technology and age old craftsmanship is what we call our ‘intelligent oak frame’.
“We are all looking forward to seeing the barn take pride of place at what’s set to be a very popular event, attracting people of all ages from across the country.”
The ‘Big Barn’ will be constructed on site at Blenheim Palace by Oakwrights in late July. Once the show has finished, it will be dismantled and stored for future shows over the next three years.
