Regional Architectural Designer wins Homebuilding & Renovating award

On Friday 24th July, PJT Design Ltd, directed by our Regional Architectural Designer, Pete Tonks, was awarded ‘Best House Designer’ at the 2020 Homebuilding & Renovating Awards.

The Homebuilding & Renovating Awards celebrate the very best people, products and services in the industry. Each category was shortlisted by their judges and the public earlier in the year, and so to ensure they were still rightfully acknowledged, Homebuilding & Renovating hosted the Awards online at their Virtual Summer Show last week.

Director of two businesses in Cambridgeshire, PJT Design Ltd and PJT Custom Build Ltd, Pete works alongside our in-house Architectural Design team here at Oakwrights, and since this relationship began in 2004, has helped so many of our clients realise their oak frame home dreams.

“Pete is an enormous talent in our industry,” says Chartered Architect and our Architectural Department Manager, Helen Needham. “His beautiful and distinctive drawing style, alongside his thoughtful and visionary designs continue to be inspirational. It’s always exciting to see his fresh and forward design thinking and his bespoke interpretation of individual client and site briefs.”

“We were looking not just for high quality, attractive homes of all varieties but a Designer who offered great value and a first-class approach to customer service,” says Michael Homes, Director of New Content and New Product Development at Homebuilding & Renovating.

The ‘Best Home Designer’ award aims to recognise a Designer who works with their clients to create home designs that encompass everything they wish for and more.

“I do not have a job, I have a passion,” says Pete. “If you’re going to design a home for someone, it has to be based on them: it cannot be from a book or a design that has been used on another site. The fact I get to design these amazing homes using beautiful oak frames from Oakwrights is truly a blessing. I was honoured to be shortlisted by leading names in the industry, and to then win the ‘Best House Designer’ award as voted for by the public is absolutely amazing.”
