Additional living space: an oak framed annexe

About your annexe
Create an annexe that complements your home
Every family is different. You may want to create a space ready for your children’s return from university, or a comfortable environment for your parents to live. You might want a space just for yourself, or you fancy yourself as a host, welcoming holiday makers into your flourishing garden. An annexe provides a haven that’s a stone’s throw away from your home.
Our annexe range below offers beautifully crafted oak frame designs created to enhance your existing home, whether you need guest accommodation, multi-generational living or flexible space to work and relax. Each annexe can be built exactly as shown, or used as inspiration for a bespoke design tailored to your lifestyle, layout, setting and any local planning requirements. Explore the collection below to find the perfect starting point for your own oak framed addition.

Harewood Lodge
The largest annexe in our range, Harewood Lodge is a beautifully proportioned two-storey design, ideal for creating a generous self-contained space alongside your existing home. Standing at 6.7m tall, it maximises usable upstairs space with a steep 45-degree roof pitch and elegant dormer windows.
The ground floor can accommodate an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, with space for practical additions such as a utility room and WC. Upstairs, the design allows for three or four double bedrooms, each with the option of an en-suite.
Weatherboarding, face glazing and traditional casement windows complete the refined exterior.

Owl Lodge
Owl Lodge is a three-bay oak frame annexe designed around a striking double-height vaulted living space, bringing volume and character to your home. With a clear span of 6.85m and a ridge height of 6.2m, it offers impressive depth and openness for modern living.
The main living area features generous face glazing, a feature fireplace and the option of a first-floor balcony overlooking the space beyond. A catslide porch incorporates a ground-floor WC, while the upper level provides flexible accommodation for bedrooms or additional living space.

Woodman's Lodge
The longest annexe in our range at nearly 13m, Woodman’s Lodge offers outstanding versatility for homeowners looking to add flexible living and working space. At 5.7m tall, it suits sites where ridge height is more limited, while still providing generous two-storey accommodation.
The ground floor can be thoughtfully zoned for an office, studio or gym, alongside open-plan guest living. Upstairs, the design allows for comfortable bedroom space, enhanced by skylights and casement windows. Weatherboarding on a dwarf brick plinth completes the exterior, while the private rear elevation remains windowless for discretion.

The Retreat
The tallest of our single-storey annexes, The Retreat is a spacious and adaptable design ideal as a party barn, games room, office or pool house. Its dramatic 45-degree roof pitch showcases the oak frame and creates a striking sense of height inside.
The open-plan layout feels bright and expansive, with full-width face glazing drawing in garden views. A gabled porch provides a welcoming entrance, while the windowless rear elevation offers privacy and flexibility for furniture, storage or entertainment features.

The Nook
The Nook is a traditional barn-style annexe with an L-shaped four-bay design that sits naturally alongside an existing home. Its classic form uses solid timber walls, minimal glazing and simple oak king-post trusses to create a private, characterful space.
A shallow 35-degree roof pitch keeps the ridge height to just 4.6m, making it ideal for more height-restricted sites. Inside, the layout can accommodate two bedrooms alongside flexible living space, with options for a home office or studio. A sheltered courtyard adds a charming outdoor extension.

The Acorn
One of the most compact designs in our annexe range, The Acorn is ideal for creating a single-bedroom guest space as an addition to your existing home. With a ridge height of 4.6m, it works particularly well where planning or site constraints limit overall height.
The layout includes an open-plan living area, a double bedroom and a bathroom, while the full oak frame and face glazed gable create a light-filled interior. Weatherboard cladding and traditional casement windows complete the design, with both vertical and horizontal finishes available.
