Home to the past, present and future
“Herefordshire, and this land here in Stretton Sugwas where Church View resides, holds a poignant place in my heart,” explains Tim Crump, our Founder and Chairman.
“It’s where I grew up; it’s where Oakwrights’ roots were established in 1999; and now it’s home to seven clients who’ve brought their oak frame dreams to life.”
Tim’s vision for Church View was to create and nurture the growth of a charming, country village in Herefordshire. As the name suggests, the Parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene can be admired to the north of the site, while rolling open fields and traditional hedgerows surround and transition with the seasons.
“It was our mission to ensure our clients’ custom build journeys would be as seamless as possible from the outset, and so before marketing the plots of land at Church View, we had planning permission already in approved and utility connections in place,” he continues. “Our teams then worked closely with each plot owner to tailor the proposed plans, ensuring every inch of their new homes would meet their needs and support their lifestyles.
Gain inspiration for your self-build from Church View
Three of our clients at Church View opted for our turnkey home building route, three chose to self-manage their projects, and one decided to DIY self-build, carrying out the majority of the work themselves.
All seven home designs we explore in more detail below are encapsulated with our pre-insulation panel systems, have oak frame garages, elements of face glazing, Mechanical Ventilation with Heat recovery (MVHR) systems, and four clients opted to seal their homes with AeroBarrierUK: the industry’s only plug-and-play air sealing system that eliminates potential leakages.
Plot 4: Gross external area: 190 m². Our ‘Cottage style’ designs provided the foundations for David and Mhairi's forever home design, fusing both our Manuka and Church cottage design. They wanted their bespoke oak frame to be prominent inside to emphasise striking features such as their vaulted ceilings and double-height glazed gable housing the stairs. They complemented their home with an oak framed garage with a room above, creating additional
accommodation and a neighbouring utility/laundry area.
Plot 6: Gross external area: 202 m². For homeowners, Bev and Alex, Church View’s edge-of-city location enclosed by orchards was the perfect place for their forever home. Inspired by a visit to our award winning custom build site Webbs Meadow, they designed their dream single-storey property that was later brought to life with our turnkey service.
