Step 1: Making contact

If you would like to create additional living space at home and you are interested in exploring your options in terms of designing your dream oak frame extension, there are many ways you can contact us to begin your journey:

Step 2: Meet your local design consultant

Having received your enquiry, your local Oakwrights design consultant will get in touch to arrange a meeting with you. During this time, you can talk through your ideas and they will share their expertise, discussing all the possibilities for your extension.

Here at Oakwrights, we typically design four types of oak frame extensions for our clients. Please click on the links below to explore their key features:

Step 3: Design

Taking into account your wish list and requirements for your new build, your Design Consultant will produce a design which encompasses your ideas, space and budget. This will be sent to you for your consideration, along with a non-binding quote, which will give you a clear breakdown of the services and products we will be providing you with to create your dream extension.

Step 4: Planning

Your design may fall under permitted development rights or need planning permission, and so your Design Consultant will advise you on the best route for your build during the design process. If planning permission is required, we can complete and submit the application for you and prepare a Building Regulations package on your behalf.

To discover more about permitted development rights and planning permission, we have answered the most frequently asked questions within the below blogs:

Step 5: 3D Survey

If planning was required for your new build and approval has been received, we will complete a 3D survey of your property before drafting a contract for you to sign and ask for a deposit for your order.

Step 6: Frame design

Your design will then be sent to our Frame Design team, who will create a technical 3D model drawing of your extension. This is an exciting step in your journey, as you are a step closer to the day when your build will be constructed! This drawing will be sent to you for your approval.

Step 7: Materials order

Once you have signed this off, we will order your oak and any other contracted materials we are supplying to create your extension; for example, if you have opted for our face glazing system.

Step 8: Oak framing

Having been delivered to our Herefordshire workshops, your oak will go through our K2i Hundegger cutting machine. Cut with precision, our team of Craftsmen will then put your frame together by hand to ensure everything fits perfectly and is finished to the finest detail.

Step 9: Delivery

Unassembled, your oak framed extension will be carefully transported to your home on an agreed date and put up by our experienced site teams!
