Best Oak Frame Home

An early Christmas present arrived here at Oakwrights on Friday, 25^th November.

Our clients’ home was announced the winner of ‘Best Oak Frame Home’ at this year’s Build It Awards, and our Webbs Meadows custom build site in Lyonshall, Herefordshire won Build It’s ‘Best Custom Build Site’!

Our congratulations go out to Philip Roberts and Judi Burdett, whose beautiful Lancashire oak frame farmhouse, designed by our in-house Architectural Design team, won ‘Best Oak Frame Home’. Best Custom Build Site

Our second award win for ‘Best Custom Build Site’ was won by Webbs Meadow, our first venture into the custom build market. This is a collaboration of 13 custom build oak frame homes with landowner Kinsey Hearn, in the village of Lyonshall, rural Herefordshire.

The flexibility of this development allowed self-builders to adapt the design of their oak frame homes to fit their individual lifestyles and future needs. With 7 of the properties already complete and inhabited, the Webbs Meadow self-builders have created a close-knit community that has supported them through their self-build journeys.

Simon and Karen Jones, pioneers on this site, were the first to buy a plot and finish their build at Webbs Meadow. The Build It Awards

The Build It Awards, in association with Buildstore, are an annual celebration that recognises innovation and excellence in the custom and self-build home market.

‘Best Oak Frame Home’ category is for self-build homes that have been designed and constructed using a green oak structure. Judges look at overall design, efficiency, innovation, how the building system enhanced the project, and how the homeowners’ needs were achieved.

‘Best Custom Build’ category celebrates the best developer/enabler-led custom build home initiative. Judges look for innovative schemes that either create new self-build opportunities or give homeowners significant input into the design and finish of their homes.
